Our School Partners
National research provided by The National College Access Network states that:
•Collaboration with schools to offer summer enrichment programs, Saturday Academies, tutoring, counseling, internships, college visits, cultural awareness activities, and SAT prep classes resulted in a 74% graduation rate from four-year colleges or universities within five years;
•Providing assistance with college applications increased the probability of participants applying to college by 11.3%; and
•Providing assistance in college admissions essays increased the probability of participants applying to college by 8.1%.
Our current high school partners, West Haven HS, Regional Career HS, Metropolitan Business Academy and Hillhouse High School, have made commitments to the CAP that includes in-kind financial support to the project. Principals, counselors, teachers, and staff give general support and assistance, particularly in the identification and referral of eligible students.
Albertus Magnus College has made a commitment to serve as our primary collegiate partner. The Admissions and Financial Aid Offices will provide staff training to assist in their roles of being college advisors, and provide workshops to our students and parents on the admissions, financial aid
process and scholarship assistance.
By entering into partnerships, all parties agree to:
•Share a commitment to a common vision
•Put agendas and needs (personal and organizational) out in the open; they do not need to be identical, but should be compatible
•Be sensitive to the needs, styles, and limitations of other collaborators
•Maintain frequent and open communication
•Be sure everyone understands expectations, especially concerning responsibilities and tasks
